Join the Seaport Museum and Atlas Obscura for a fascinating evening of discovery aboard the historic Wavertree, New York's last remning iron-hulled three-masted full-rigged cargo ship. We're celebrating the release of Wild Life: An Explorer’s Guide to the World’s Living Wonders, an extraordinary collection of lesser-known stories about our planet's most amazing living wonders.
The authors, Cara Gimo and Joshua Foer, will guide us through a world filled with both beauty and eccentricity in nature. Their book is a testament to the incredible diversity and unique features that define our natural universe. Wavertree promises to provide an immersive setting for this event, offering participants an opportunity to explore its rich history before or after the presentation.
Our evening starts at 5pm with light refreshments followed by Cara Gimo's engaging talk and discussion session at 6pm. The event also includes a book signing afterwards don't forget your copy of Wild Life!

The authors will take us on an adventure through hidden stories about nature's unique creatures during their presentation at 6pm aboard Wavertree, a significant part of New York City’s waterfront history. You'll embark on this journey from the historic vessel which has circumnavigated the globe multiple times since its construction in Southampton, England in 1885.
The evening will begin with light refreshments starting at 5pm before Cara Gimo's talk starts at 6pm, followed by a discussion session. Book signing will follow the presentation.
