Following the introduction of bronze artifacts and a special display Stars Over China: Ancient Shu Civilization of Sanxingdui and Jinsha in February, this new branch has now expanded its offerings with an extensive display on ancient Chinese sculptures. Featuring 289 objects that span various materials such as bone, jade, wood, pottery, stone, etc., the exhibition includes a significant third of these items making their debut to the public.

This upgrade and expansion at Shangh Museum East, compared to its location in People's Square, has significantly increased both the number of displayed piecesalmost doubling itand deepened the historical context by covering periods as early as the Shang Dynasty circa 16th century-11th century BC and Zhou Dynasty circa 11th century-256 BC, as well as exting to the Ming and Qing Dynasties 1368-1911.
