In recognition of International Museum Day, a global celebration that underscores the role of museums in preserving and showcasing cultural history, heritage, art and knowledge, UCA’s Cultural Heritage and ities Unit joined hands with the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan to launch a series of educational programs for museum professionals across the country. The first such trning session took place in Toktogul, Jalal-Abad region's rural area, followed by subsequent sessions held in Ornok village from Issyk-Kul region.
Gulmira Osmonova, Senior Research Fellow at the Toktogul Satylganov Memorial House-Museum prsed these initiatives stating that she had never atted such trning before and appreciated its focus on contemporary trs and concepts in modern museums.
da Alymova, Director of the ICOM Committee in Kyrgyzstan, expressed her strong belief in the importance of these trnings as they allow participants to develop projects that may receive funding through a museum mini-grant program.
These initiatives are supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic under its three-year regional project med at developing and enhancing museum capabilities.
The trning programs offered participants visits to local museums, ancient monuments that were closely tied to their respective regions' histories.
Participants presented their projects on the final day of trning conducted at Cholpon-Ata village in Toktogul region, and then visited petroglyphs and burial mounds in the second round of trnings held in the Museum of Nomadic Civilization named after Kurmanjan Datka.
The Cultural Heritage and ities Unit's partnership with the Ministry highlights their commitment to empowering Kyrgyzstan's museums through knowledge sharing, innovation and fostering local expertise.
In this spirit of collaboration, UCA continues its eavor to contribute significantly towards preserving cultural heritage, promoting educational initiatives and nurturing local talent within Central Asia.
