Huang Junshi, a distinguished art connoisseur and calligrapher renowned as Shantao, was born in Tshan, Guangdong Province, China, in 1934. His studies took him through Hong Kong, Japan, and eventually the United States where he honed his craft further. Decades later, he established the Chinese Pnting and Calligraphy Department at Christie’s Auction House in the 1980s, serving as its head for several years before transitioning to a senior consulting role at Sotheby’s.

Throughout his career, Huang Junshi has been celebrated with solo calligraphy exhibitions at prestigious institutions such as the National Art Museum of China, Shangh Art Museum, Hong Kong City Hall, and Guangdong Provincial Museum. His style is influenced by the Jin and Tang dynasties, showcasing a remarkable bl of cursive and small regular scripts in his calligraphic artistry.
