The highlight of the museum is Matafeiyan 马踏飞燕, a legary bronze horse that embodies a galloping steed reminiscent of a soaring swallow-a masterpiece of ancient craftsmanship. Another notable exhibit is the Huanghe Elephant Fossil 黄河古象化石, towering at four meters in height and eight meters in length, this fossilized specimen, complete with tusks reaching up to two meters long, represents China's largest find and boasts one of the most intact skeletons of stegodon fossils discovered globally.
A mamenchisaurus dinosaur fossil adds another layer of awe-inspiring prehistoric life to the collection. Visitors can experience its grandeur through this magnificent display that embodies the diversity of ancient life forms.
The Gansu Provincial Museum is divided into three core exhibition halls, each focusing on different themes - colored pottery for the artistry of ancient times, civilization along the Silk Road for historical and cultural significance, and fossil specimens hall presenting prehistoric adventure.
Open from Tuesday to Sunday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM dly, visitors can engage with professional guides who offer free commentaries at designated times-9:30 in the morning and 15:00 in the afternoon respectively.
With entrance to the museum facilitated by obtning a permission ticket using valid identification such as an ID card, limited tickets are distributed each day 2,000 total for both morning 1,200 tickets and afternoon visits 800 tickets, ensuring every visitor's experience remns comfortable and engaging.
Located opposite the Friship Hotel in Lanzhou city center, the Gansu Provincial Museum is easily accessible via public transportation with several bus lines including No. 1, No. 18, and No. 31 providing convenient access.
