Exhibition on The Great Tea Route Unveiled at the National Museum of Mongolia

On September 4, 2024, an exhibition titled The Great Tea Route was officially launched at the National Museum of Mongolia. This event was jointly organized by the Hubei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism from China, in collaboration with the China Cultural Center in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The initiative is supported by the Hubei Provincial Museum, Office of the Joint Application for UNESCO World Heritage Status for the Great Tea Route China section, and the National Museum of Mongolia.

The unveiling ceremony was a celebration marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Mongolia, ming to promote collaborative efforts in applying The Great Tea Route as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

Keynote speeches were delivered by Davaatseren, Head of the Cultural Heritage Policy and Implementation Department from Mongolia's Ministry of Culture, Tourism, Sports, and Youth; Li Zhi, Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia and Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Ulaanbaatar; among other esteemed guests from both China and Mongolia. These speakers commed The Great Tea Route's historical significance and recognized the value of preparatory activities for its World Heritage application as well as ongoing efforts to preserve cultural heritage.

The exhibition is divided into three themes: The Birthplace of Tea, Tea Connecting Worlds, and Preservation and Inheritance. It showcases a vivid depiction of The Great Tea Route's historical existence alongside its cultural exchanges through images, artifacts, and multimedia presentations. The highlight of the exhibition includes brick dark tea from Hubei province in China, which emphasizes the unique craftsmanship and rich cultural history associated with it.

The exhibition is open until October 3rd, offering a valuable opportunity for visitors to deepen their understanding of the Great Tea Route's significance and its cultural legacy along its course.
